Powerful enough for developers, simple enough for everyone else.
bd2 are Umbraco Certified Gold Partners and have worked with Umbraco since 2010. All our developers are Umbraco trained and Certified and we attend the annual Codegarden event in Copenhagen to keep abreast of all the latest Umbraco developments. We’re active in the ever growing Umbraco community.

The freedom Umbraco give us as designers and developers allows us to create unique user experiences that delight the user and encapsulate the specific character of a brand and the quality of its products or services. Unique user experiences and bespoke interfaces differentiate a site from all others.
It’s why we don’t use off-the-shelf themes or templates because they are, by their very nature, generic. We don’t understand why would you want a website that looks like someone else’s. However, we do look to take advantage of all the powerful builtin features within Umbraco.
Content blocks
Content blocks which provide complete control over page formats as well as content [text/image/ video] within blocks. The number of block formats are limitless, making it easy to refresh the appearance of a page either by adding, repositioning or creating new block types as well as changing content within blocks. The design of each content block is completely configurable with as many options as the editor wants from background images, colours and overlays, to font styles, sizes and colours as well as features all within pre-defined brand styles for control - it’s incredibly flexible.
User-friendly editors
The fully mature backoffice gives editors complete control and is super user-friendly. Front end content is shown with editable fields in a very similar style to the front end pages so editors get a near ‘WYSIWYG’ experience.
AI built- in to the backoffice
Umbraco connects to the AI provider of your choice to add practical tooling such as generating SEO titles and meta descriptions, creating alt text for images, summarising page content, rewriting or improving copy, translating content into other languages and even converting audio files into text.
Load balancing in the backoffice
For larger teams making frequent changes, the backoffice can now scale to manage high volumes of content changes to improve editorial productivity.
Umbraco Automate
A drag-and-drop canvas that allows marketing teams to visually orchestrate customer journeys using outof- the-box triggers. It allows you to design customer journeys and campaigns instantly. For example onboarding, sign up, cart recovery or download journeys. It includes approval actions to keep a human-in-the-loop.
Umbraco Engage plugin
Adds a level of userprofiling, personalisation, analytics and split testing to rival any high end level platform.
bd2 SEO audit plugin
Our new page audit tool brings SEO data into the Umbraco backoffice so that editors and search specialists can instantly check whether all the necessary data for a page is in place. It produces a traffic-lighted check list with all items in place marked with a green tick, any issues with a yellow warning triangle and any missing items with a red cross so that issues can be made instantly within the SEO section.
bd2’s proprietary SEO audit tool is exclusive and free for bd2 clients.

There is an increasing awareness of the impact of data centres on the environment. As more and more are built to support the demand for the processing power needed for advanced technology, such as AI, so the resource demand becomes greater. Umbraco has always made sustainability a key part of its strategy.
From the selection of environmentally friendly and recyclable materials to energy efficient systems for lighting and heating, sustainable practices and techniques have long been adopted by responsible companies.
Sustainability is a priority for all responsible businesses and they naturally expect their suppliers to follow suit because, at the very least, bought in services form part of their overall carbon footprint.
Whilst technology hasn’t necessarily been considered a significant factor in this, there is a growing awareness of the impact that data centres in particular have on energy use.
In the Republic of Ireland for example, which is home to several big tech firms, data centres accounted for nearly a fifth of all electricity used in 2022 and the amount of electricity being used by data centres in the country has risen by 400% since 2015.
Green web solutions, which are principally focused on ‘clean’ and optimised code, reduce data usage and processing power significantly and can also reduce CO2 emissions by up to 75%. Clean code also increases speeds and load times, leading to a better user experience, improved SEO and lower hosting costs.
Sustainability is a core priority for Umbraco, who publish an annual Impact Report, and believe that websites should be both highperforming and environmentally responsible. Umbraco is super light and efficient. We constantly refactor our sites to make the code as clean as possible.
In contrast, CMS’s that use third party plugins, templates and themes are often very inefficient because the code for unused options is still present. Sites that aren’t refactored lead to a bloated code base which is inefficient from both a resources and a code management perspective.

Our hosting partner Microsoft Azure has been 100% carbon neutral since 2012, they are on target to use 100% renewable energy sources, be water positive and achieve zero-waste certification by 2030.
